U.S. SUPREME COURT UPDATE
On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the Dane County Bar Association will welcome Christine Kexel Chabot, an Associate Professor of Law at Marquette University Law School, as the speaker for its monthly noon luncheon at the Madison Club. She will present a “Review of the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2025-2026 Term,” and she will address the m
Professor Chabot teaches constitutional law, administrative law, and related courses at Marquette Law School.. Her separation of powers research recovers the lost history of the administrative state, and her scholarship introducing an independent Founding era agency, known as the Sinking Fund Commission, was recently cited in Justice Sotomayor’s dissent in Trump v. Slaughter. See Interring the Unitary Executive, 98 Notre Dame L. Rev. 129 (2022). Professor Chabot’s forthcoming Article also helped uncover another independent Founding era agency (the Revolutionary War Debt Commission), which was discussed by both the majority and the dissent in Slaughter.
